Proposal to change aus.photo charter

Discussion in 'Australia Photography' started by Douglas MacDonald, Jul 18, 2004.

  1. This is a proposal to change the charter of aus.photo and it's name to
better reflect the new content of the group.

I propose a change from aus.photo to either:

    aus.griping.camerasales or,
    aus. wheresthe.cheapest.camera or,
    aus.howto.photograph.withapc or,
    aus.howdoImakea.digital.image.looklika.realphoto

Feel free to post your own ideas for a new name. Certainly from the number
of posts and responses to them over the last month, anything with photo in
the name might not suit the new charter. No doubt other will suggest what
    that should be.

You forgot to mention discussions about anything that can be used to print,
store, transfer, view or share a photo. Because that is photography too
since its all about photos and if there werent any photos none of those
    things would be needed.

We cant excluded quantum physics either or any discussions about the speed
of light. They are relevant to photography also.

Where to buy stuff cheaper is really important because that leads to a
related conversation about betting ripped off when the parcel didnt arrive.
Because lots of photos DIDNT get taken - that's photography too.

Webcams, phones and other CDD powered devices - thats photography.

Also dont exclude the small p3nis brigade with spec comparisons. Only a
camera with superior specs takes superior photos. At least that is what the
Canon rep told my old buddy Peter.

Now if you want actual images .... thats not photography, thats digital
    imaging. Wrong forum.

That bloke gets a posting and then adds another few NG's - have a look
at some of his work in the headers. So they spread.

I can appreciate a funny troll once in a while, but that dude is just plain
boring. SIGMA SIGMA SIGMA SIGMA. George Preddy is also Jorge Prediguez and
    the other nym you mentioned.

Maybe Preddi and Picard can hook up, then they can have the true geological
photography. Might even make a nice book.

  15. The really odd part about Preddy's posts is that I actually own a SD9 Sigma
and I can tell you here and now it sucks big time. When I first got it it
was a novelity because it came with f2.8 lens and "my girls" all wanted to
use it instead of the 10D canons. It wasn't until a little later that it
seemd to be the last one used! Sigma SD cameras are serious rubbish. Even in
midday summer sun, Queensland style there ain't enough light for a decent
shot! AHMEN. I can only guess at how many eyeballs have been blown out with
flash to get a clean image.

The SD10 was supposed to be a significant improvement, but the images look
    the same to me.

  18. Hi all,

I'm astonished about this newsgroup. I have never seen a photographic
    newsgroup
with less really photographic topics. IMHO

So, for me the question of the original poster is OK, for me he isn't a
    troll.

  19. Ha,ha,ha... I wonder what Usenet has for future?
Obviously a certain number of trolls have managed to hijack most of the
groups and converted them to their own personal entertainment. The quality
of topics in Photo and technical groups has declined and this decline is
like the one which ended Sodom and Gomorra. I can only wonder at the future
of groups like these. I personally don't think they have any.
