Query: system to enable photographers to sell work online

Hi all
I am in the process of developing a system that will enable photographers to
sell their work online and I am trying to get some feedback from people
within the industry.
It is basically going to be a cross between Getty Images and Brightroom
whereby event photographers will be able to upload photos of their event -
local sporting event, charity ball, holiday etc. and the user will be able
to order a printed or digital copy of the print.
The idea is to offer a wider market to the photographer as well as a new
channel to sell.
This is the product in its most simplistic form - the intricacies are quite
complicated but should be very user friendly in the end.
I would be grateful to any of you who work in this particular area of
photography if you could give me some initial thoughts on this
