Question about Canon's 3x wide zoom lens

Discussion in 'Professional Video Production' started by Jacques E. Bouchard, Nov 14, 2007.

  1. I have the opportunity to get my hands on Canon's 3x wide zoom lens, but
I'd like to find out more about image distortion to know whether it's
eomething I can use right now - especially since I already have a wide
adapter. It has a focal length of 3.4-10.2mm.

Any recommendations for/against? Any pictures that would show the
distortion? I know nbarreling is pretty much unavoidable with wide-angle
lenses, but I just don't want it to be too blatant.

    Thanks.

  2. ADDENDUM: I found a review on the XL1 watchdog website, with pictures.

I like the low distortion. Still, I'd appreciate the input from others
who've used it, both for and against.

Liked it. The servo focus sucked but less of a problem than he 13x lens. The
XL1 focus was he reason I sold the cameras.
