I happened to notice the other day that ACDSEE
(5.0.1.0006) shows me a picture from a raw file saved by
    my Fuji S5000.

Does anybody know if it is showing me the real raw file
or is it showing me an imbedded .jpg??

It doesn't really matter, since I have the converter
that came w/the camera, but I've been using it to let me
know if I REALLY want to bother converting the picture.

If it is REALLY showing me the raw file, I could do a
"Save as" from ACDSEE to a .tif on the hard drive and
    save a step.

Tonight, if I have the time, I'll do BOTH conversion &
"save as" and see if I can see any difference.

All of the info on the status line is for the raw file..

Can't you tell by the resolution of the image? I don't know how the Fuji
does it, but with the Canons, the ebedded preview JPEG is much smaller
than the real image, so all you would have to do is look at the ACDSee
status line on the bottom of the window.
