Recall ordered for a Nikon camera battery pack
    Last Update: 11/7/2005 10:47:31 PM

The following recall has been announced:

-About 20,000 camera battery packs, manufactured by Nikon Inc., because
the product can short circuit, causing it to overheat and pose a burn
hazard. There have been four reports of incidents with no reports of
injuries. The recalled Nikon rechargeable lithium ion battery pack,
sold with three types of Nikon digital cameras or sold separately,
bears the model number EN-EL3. Camera, mass merchandise, catalog,
Internet and office supply retailers nationwide sold the product from
May 2004 through November 2005. For more information, call the company
    at 800-645-6678 or visit www.nikonusa.com or http://www.cpsc.gov.

    Here's the effected serial numbers:

That's the batter that comes with D70, D50, D100, not the newer one that
comes with D70s which is model number EN-EL3a.
