    Hi

Can anyone recommend any (freebie) videos I can watch on how to make
    good videos?!

    I am a total beginner.

    Background:
We are an up-market auction site that needs to make short 2-minute
    video that explains
how our (slighltly complex) auctions work and to take part. At present
    we simply can not
afford to hire a professional (although this will probably change in a
    few monts time).

    With thanks

Honestly, I think your introductory tutorial welcoming people to your new
(and complex) auctioning system is nowhere to skimp and try to decide to
    throw something together yourself.
You could create something so amateurish and dreadful to watch people get
turned off of your site before even using it.

Skimp on lunches for a month and hire a studio/professional for this one.
It's your first impression, don't blow it.

If you would like to furnish some info on what you need to show and display,
I among other professionals here may offer a lower rate than you think.

  3. go to digitaljuice.com and look for the DJTV section. Watch all the
little free videos there, then go thru their archives and/or order
their previous season, you will do well.

Oh.. just get a camera and start shooting it. There are plenty of tuts and
discussions online to get you started.. it ain't a big deal. If you're in a
hurry , hire someone, if you're not. . go for it.
Once you start viewing what you have shot you will see whether or not you
    need help..

These videos are a little goofy, I usually show them to my undergrad
    students:

If you really want a high production value, you're not likely to learn
everything you need to know by watching Internet tutorials. But this
    is a decent starting place.
