Record webcam inputs with audio and then broadcast across the network

Discussion in 'Video Cameras' started by Rob Nicholson, Mar 13, 2007.

  1. We're currently using Windows Media Encoder to record the input from two USB
webcams (although only one is recorded at once) plus audio feed from a
mixing desk. It works okay except when the camera "operator" switches from
one camera to another, there is a break in the audio stream. I assume this
is because Media Encoder stops briefly and starts encoding a new stream as
it switches camera, even though the audio is shared between both streams.

Anyone know of an alternative to Windows Media Encoder? The gotcha is that
we then stream the video across the LAN using Windows Media Services to
another PC watching the video in another room.

Basically, we're looking for a 3rd party alternative to the Windows Media
Encoder and Windows Media Service partnership.

    Thanks, Rob.
