Is there such a place that rents L lens, on-line? I'm looking for the
    longer range lens (400L, 5.6).

Does such a place exist? I've checked a couple local shops, but it was a
no go... I'm still searching locally.

Thank you very much. Upon registering I found out they do not ship of
state. After talking to a couple shops it seems that they only rent the
high end L lenses (F4 and under) :-( which is way out of my price range
    to purchase.

Looks like I'm just going to have to go with the reviews I've read on
    the 400, 5.6

C'mon over to rec.photo.equipment.35mm and talk to Annika1980. He has one
and uses it to good effect.

If you're in LA, check with Calumet in Sta. Monica or possibly Samy's. I
rent a lot of gear from Calumet in San Diego (actually Escondido.)

My experiences with Samy's have been good. Didn't rent; bought.

Samy's was the first shop I contacted. Never heard of Calumet... thanks
    for the tip.

how about, buy a lens on ebay and when you are done, sell it again, the ebay
fees and postage will probably be about what a lens would rent for. no
late fees except for the interest on your credit card.

    I've rented everything from a 16-35 f2.8 to a 600mm f5.6 from them, over the
years, plus lighting systems, camera bodies, etc.
BTW, that store is "off "Sta. Monica Blvd, not "in" Sta. Monica, on
    Highland.

And, if they don't have it, they can get it from another store.
