Replacing stolen Nikon FE

While on holiday in Italy I had my bag snatched, containing a well
cared-for Nikon FE, with 35, 85 and 24mm lenses. With any luck, the
insurance will stump up - but I need to think about replacements. I
suspect I'd be lucky to get an FE in such good condition.

What would you recommend as similar replacements that I can get in
good condition secondhand, or modern cameras that are of similar
optical quality (and aren't completely automated).

    Thanks in advance,

Thanks for this. Now that I've got home, and have recovered from the
theft, I'm looking at my options, and am waiting to hear what the
    insurance company will pay for.

I'm basically looking to replace the camera with something broadly
equivalent - I can't see any need for auto focus, but would like to
know whether other aspects of the technology has moved on in e.g. the
Nikon FM3a such that I should consider moving on to this model.

    Grateful for any thoughts.
