In PS7 Is there any way to resize the layered images when trying to match
proportions when combining differnt images in to one photo? At the moment I
am guessing by resizing the original, selecting what I want and copying into
the new window as a separate layer, very tedious. Can it be done in PSCS?

  2. Enable 'show bounding boxes' re-size with the mouse by click and drag.
Constrain the proportions by holding down the shift key *after" you press
    the mouse button.

You can enable the bounding boxes by first selecting the picker tool and
then clicking a tick in the boxes window on the menu bar. Unless you have
altered the standard layout. On your oun if you have!

I was able to enable bounding boxes but nothing happens when I select the
layer I wish to resize. How do I get a bounding box around the image to drag

Perhaps the layer you are trying to resize does not have an image in it?
Try selecting that part of the layer (or the whole layer) with the mask
tool. Copy it to the clipboard and then paste it (a new layer will be
created). You should then be able to resize the pasted object, be it the
whole layer or an image. I don't know of any means to resize an empty
layer. All layers are created transparent so why would you want to re-size

I am combining two jpegs of different resolution.I select the part from each
picture (a person) and copy and paste into a "new" window. Each image shows
up as a separate layer but of different proportions (a giant person next to
a midget).I can select each layer/person and eg move them closer or further
apart with the "move tool".I can not match their sizes unless I return to
orig picture, alter pixel resolution etc. What tool do you select to create a
bounding box around part or all of a layer?

You don't resize an image, you resize a layer. So select the layer you want
to adjust, set the opacity to 50%, go to Edit/Transform/Scale, hold down
shift key while adjusting bounding box to match up images. ~Doc
