    Hi All,

I am unable to create an image above 72 pix/inch.

I have tried different combinations of settings on my G5, such as
Superfine/Fine etc and different document sizes,
(1600x1200, 1024x768 etc) but the endresult in photoshop is always the same,
    an image of 72 pix/inch.

I have turned the post image processing 'off' within the camera settings.

I have also used RAW capture, and converted to TIFF (8 bit), and to JPEG
    using different compression ratios
within the the Canon Utility s/w.

The result is the same, all JPEGs have a resolution of 72 pix/inch, and the
    TIFF's 96pix/inch.

    What am I missing ?

I have run the same tests on a G2, with the same result.

    Tools: Canon G5 on 'P' setting, ISO100
    Photoshop 6

With all due respect, STP, your first line is correct.

The number is meaningless. Don't worry about it.

However, it's almost meaningless to tamper with *that*
number in photoshop, too. It's meaningless :)
You can have precisely the same effect by zooming the

What *is* of consequence is the dpi (dots per inch),
    but *only* when you're printing.

1600x1200 will print either nicer (or larger, your choice)
    than 1280x960 will.

    Take care.
