Took out my old Mamiya-Secor DTL and Canon A-1. Ran a roll of film
through each, both still work great, but each could use new light seals
    and a good CLA.

Local shops (Buffalo, NY) want $120-$150 for that. Is that the going
rate or are there better repair deals on the Web? (For $120, I could
buy a CLA'd camera and lens with warranty on eBay.)

Also discovered that camera shops only carry consumer grade film such
as Kodacolor Gold. Couldn't find Kodak UC or Fuji Velvia. Where is
a good place to Web shop for better film?

Finally, where to go for processing? Years ago I used Kodak in nearby
Rochester and Mystic Film in Connecticut. What's good now?

The times, they are a changin'.

B&H and Adorama both sell film and give you the choice of USA or Imported
stock. Pick up a copy of Shutterbug Magazine and you'll find numerous film

J and C Photo has a wide selection:

Don, don't support them, local shop. So simple.
Mike, about film: Don't be so cheap man!

I got sh... prints from local lab. Time to switch... Ya! Digital!

  6. I live in an urban area in the northeast. My city has TWO photo stores.
One is Ritz and the film selection is about what you had in the drug
stors 3 years ago. The other is a real photo shop but their selection
is variable, inconsistent, and you get what you can get when you find
it. I shop there but I can't rely on them. Mail order is the only
reliable source. If it will make you happier, I will add a 15% gratuity
    to my B&H orders.

Re labs: Kodak is lousy- it's Qualex and not even as good as Qualex was
10 years ago. Mystic was bought out and the stuff goes to DC or
Maryland. A lab named ABC took over the old Mystic facilities and I
don't know how good they are. I use Holland Photo in Austin Texas. Good
prices, good quality work, and a pretty good turnaround time.
