RichA might be a swamping parameter

Discussion in 'Digital SLR' started by Charles Schuler, Oct 10, 2006.

  1. There is an engineering term called "swamping." It is commonly used when
one parameter overwhelms others that could be pertinent in a given
situation. The swamping parameter mostly dominates the outcome.

Are we being swamped by RichA?

  2. If we keep replying to all his posts and talking about him, we are.

I'm not - I don't see him at all unless somebody is foolish
enough to answer one of his tedious articles. If they do it
often enough I soon stop seeing them too :)

The one major advantage usenet has over web forums is the
ability to filter out the annoying background noise. Sadly
RichA also posts his drivel to some forums I use - he
appears on dpreview as "rander3127" for example.

Hey, you could always do what the craven, pathetic little Nazi cowards
    do there, lodge a complaint.
That seems to get a response from the moderators.

"Overwhelms" what? Posts by you? You are a reactionary, you never
post anything original, or even interesting. There IS nothing to drown
    out!

  6. Given the source, I consider that a compliment.

Plonk him if you can't stand him.

Why? You're complaining about him. Nobody is going to change his
behaviour. So either tolerate him, ignore him or plonk him.

You talk about "swamping" but by replying to him you're adding to the
    over-saturation.

  10. Does this mean, Alan, that with regard to a certain Brit, you plan to do
    the same?

That's not nice; even TP should be allowed to keep a pet.

No, I intend to remind him of his rude behviour and outrageous claims
every time he says something rude or fails to back up his photographic
claims. You of course, as previously mentioned, may plonk me if you
consider my behaviour unacceptable. I'm sure the Brit in question has.

    Cheers,
    Alan

Even TP should be able to post a single photo with a modicum of quality.
    Any single quality.

  14. From my post, the part you omitted:
[Does this mean, Alan, that with regard to a certain Brit, you plan to
    do the same?]

Your refusal to mandate for yourself what you do for others is arrogant.

Let's face it. The guy is entertaining. Especially when Helen
incinerates him as only she can do. Also, he's good at what he
does--stirring people up. Granted, I haven't learned anything about
photography from him as I have from many of you but, still, his posts
and the responses to them never fail to elicit a laugh or two.

eh? You're the one with a problem with me. So plonk me.

All I said to the OP was "Plonk him if you can't stand him."

Whether he heeds that advice is his business. What I do is mine.

    Cheers,
    Alan

  17. I'll plonk whom I please when I please, thank you very much.

I may continue to chide you for boorish behavior, or correct you when
you're wrong, or not, as I choose.

You're mostly interesting to read, are clear as a bell, and seldom make
    mistekes.

    Have a nice evening!

Thanks for that vote of confidence. Regrettably I'll continue to be
wrong occasionally or a PITA on the other issue.

I won't even correct your spelling misteke above...

    Cheers,
    Alan
