Rotating video

I want to rotate some video with shareware software. I presently use
Virtualdub, which works fine but the file size is absolutely HUGE. So my
    question is:

    1) Is there a way to prevent the file size being so large in Virtualdub?

    2) Failing that, does anyone know of any freeware or relatively inexpensive
software that will do the job?

    Thanks.

Your original video is encoded using some particular video codec (which
you didn't mention.) As you process it in VirtualDub, it does not only
rotate the video - it decodes the original encoding, then rotates, then
encodes the video again in (possibly another) format.

You can see the original codec which your video is encoded with by
loading it in VirtualDub and choosing "File" -> "File information..."
    from the menus.

You can change the video codec that VirtualDub uses for saving the files
in the "Video" -> "Compression..." dialog.

    in message
To be pedantic, file size depends _only_ on bitrate and film duration.

A 30 minute MPEG-1 film at 1mbps will be the same size as a 30 minute DivX
film at 1mbps will be the same size as a 30 minute Cinepac AVI at 1mbps.

The quality between the three may be vastly different. That's where the
    compression format comes in...

movie you watch inna London Eye kinda fing? Or are you just plain old
copying? Please enlighten & I'll maybe help with the freebee
    stuff. :) DEAL? :)

You're just being silly now, Trev. Everyone knows that you just lie down to
    watch rotated images... ;o)
