Can someone tell what type of card is in the Samsung 301. Is it a
Smartmedia, Secure Digital, CompactFlash, or what? I just got the camera and
there is no booklet with it and the lady i got it from dont know much about
    it either.
I was going to see if the card would fit into my HP PSC 2410 card reader,
but after reading the printer manual, it said by default XP will format a
memory card under 8MB or over 64MB. My card is full and i dont want it
formatted and my pictures lost...Does anyone know if the PSC 2410 will
    delete my pictures.,,,thanks tom

I've never heard of a card reader that will format a card, or delete
pictures, unless you do it on purpose. Unless something is broken, of
    course.
Your *printer* manual told you this? Or was that a typo (*printed*)?

Thanks for the help. Is the SM (Smart Card?) and the MMC (MultimediaCard)
the same size? In the printer manual it lists them both as being able to be
used, but it shows them a different size from each other.

Your *printer* manual told you this? Or was that a typo (*printed*)?

The psc2410 printer manual says this...
WARNING! By default, Windows XP will format a memory card of 8 MB or less
and 64 MB or more with the FAT32 format. Digital cameras and other devices
use the FAT (FAT16 or FAT 12) format and cannot operate with a FAT32
formatted card. Either format your card in your camera or select FAT format
to format your card in a Windows XP PC.

Maybe it is talking about formatting the card if it is empty, or has never
been formatted. I tried to call HP and ask that question before i lost all
my pictures, but they dont care about their customers after a year from
    their purchase.
    thanks again....tom.

I believe your right there. I've used my HP 7660 printer to download
pictures from a 4mb SM card and it did not format the card, just downloaded
the pics. I have XP. But now you have me worried as I also used a spare SD
128mb card to download files to take to the local film shop. And I
formatted it in the computer. I'll have to check to see if it still works
in the camera or perhaps I'll have to reformat as you said above.

The camera uses Secure Digital (SD) or MultiMediaCard (MMC).
They are more or less the same size. SD cards would be better, and are
    probably easier to find.
