My wife and I went to see Pirates of the Caribbean yesterday in
digital format. Apart from a breakdown of 25minutes between running
the 35mm trailers and ads the rest was OK (saw the guy in the booth
frantically talking to someone on the fone) . Good sound and picture.

However when we came out we both complained about bad headaches.

I suspect the frame rate . What is the frame rate of digital
    projection??

The headache was no doubt brought on by the relentless motion and fast
cutting of P.O.C.. I will pass on this sequel. The last one was so dark and
loud and the fight scenes never ended.. IT got boring so fast. I was in
tears by the time it was over.. predictable, boring, noisy..

    24fps, same as film.
Maybe there was too much salt on your popcorn.

Mutley did say he saw it "in digital format" which means it wasn't
    necessarily 24 fps.

I wonder if it was the new Sony SXRD 4K 120HZ digital projection
    system.

Were you in the path of the hurricane? Could have been barometric pressure
    drop.

I suspect it was the content rather than the medium?

  10. Why would they convert it to another frame-rate for a job which will be
released to both film and digital projection? Don't think the studio's
beancounters would be too happy with that :))
