  1. Hallo,
Some years ago I boght a Minolta Scanner AF 2840. With it I scanned a
few thousant slides. It worked perfectly with Windows XP.
But now I have a new Window 7 64 bit and it does not seem to work any
more.I have not need the scanner for quite somke time, so it seems that
I have missed information about how I could continue to use the scanner.
Of course I could create a partition with Windows xp on my new computer,
but as the scanner is the only thing that does not work with Win 7 my
question is: Is there any solution to make it work again on Win 7.

Could be a driver issue. Did you contact Minolta support?

That's what the partitions in W7 are for: to run software that is not
compatible with the 64-bit architecture. Nothing wrong with that. A
lot wrong with trying to get software support for a scanner that is
not made anymore by a company that doesn't exist anymore...

I think the best solution is GOOGLing (or Minolta support) for this
specific model. Why? because in GOOGLE world you may find thousands (from
millions readers) of people having the same model with similar issue. When
HERE you are looking at few hundreds and the chance for the user with the
same model and similar issue is very slim

With Windows 7, in general you *may* be able to get it to work by running
it as WinXP compatible, and may be with newer driver. And it may not work
at all (like some newer model of Epson multi-function printer with newer
driver won't work when older model released before Win7 still working).

    So I would suggest to

    1. GOOGLE for the relationship between Minolta AF 2840 and Win7 64-bit

    2. GOOGLE for newer TWAIN driver see if there is any.

    3. *IF* the TWAIN driver works but the ssanner software doesn't work, then
GOOGLE for newer version of whatever software is. Or you can always use
third party software that works with Windows 7 (either 32-bit or 64-bit

That's pretty much about all you can do
