Schneider and Kenko 4x loupes

  1. Hi,

The Kenko 4x Aspheric Loupe looks exactly the same as the old
Schneider 4x Magnifier. Does anybody know for sure if they are in fact
one and the same? I know that the Schneider loupe is something of a
legend, but the Kenko loupe is also very sharp corner to corner with
very slight pincushion distortion at the edges.

Btw, the Kenko loupe uses grease to smooth the rotation of the
focusing ring. Does the Schneider loupe also use grease in this
fashion? The Schneider loupe is not available where I stay in India
and so I cannot compare the two directly.

    -Siddhartha.
