Has anyone here ever done (or led) a Scott Kelby photowalk? There's one coming
up on October 13. Is it worth the waste of a Saturday morning? And the pain of
probably getting yourself on every photographic equipment junk mail list in
the English-speaking world? (Ulp! I tentatively signed up, so that water may
    be already over the dam.)

The fact that you say "worth the waste of a Saturday morning" is odd -
implies that good or not, the walk is a waste.

    Curious.

Just a figure of speech. If I do the walk, I lose the ability to spend the
time otherwise (sleeping, doing yard work, editing pictures, etc.). Perhaps
"waste" was a poorly chosen term (unless that's what it turns out to be), but
you have nothing to lose by cutting me some linguistic slack.

Now that we've dealt with that, is or isn't the walk worth the, er,
expenditure of time? (I don't usually go into town - twenty miles away - on
    Saturdays.)

It just struck me as odd. I would have asked it more like "Has any one
done this? Is it worth it?" or "is it worth the time?"

I always cut you slack - but only after jerking the cord a couple times.
The SI Committee believes it is worth your time. They recently posted
on the subject. As I serve at the Committee's pleasure they have
ordered me onto the walk. And the next day I have an orienteering meet.
    Busy, busy.

I signed up for a photowalk a couple years ago. Unfortunately, I
forgot about it, and missed out. I didn't notice any noticeable
increase in junk mail or email.

Maybe I'll sign up this time and put it on my calendar so I don't
    forget.
