Second hand price for a Nikkor AIS F4.5 300mm

Discussion in '35mm Cameras' started by Andrew McCall, Jan 16, 2004.

  1. Can anyone tell me if £95.00 is a fair price for a second hand Nikkor
AIS F4.5 300mm in good condition?

I have tried to look around for examples on eBay and at Jessops, but I
can't find one to compare it to.

    Thanks in advance,

If that symbol in front of the 95.00 is a UK pound symbol, then yes
it's a good price and if it's the EDIF version it's a great price.

The vast majority of 300mm f/4.5 lenses are pre-ED glass lenses and thus not
the best for sharpness. Of all the things done in lens designs over the past
20-30 years or so, the introduction of ED glass has made the most improvement
to image quality (IMO). Watch for a serial number of 173101 or higher to get
    ED glass.
