Just what are they and the differences between them and the average desktops?
Also, does anyone know if a hard drive or 2 can be added to a Dell desktop?
Internel ones. A friends nephew says yes...I say Dell says No.

  2. Sure they can be added, but Dell might say warranty is void if you open
the case. Of course, they would probably be willing to add them for a price.

I have added several drives to my Dell (one additional internal and two usb2
externals) - No warranty issues either.

  4. Servers are generally geared towards running many processes at once with
a high level of reliability where as with a workstation you generally
want the best speed possible for the application you are using. As far
as adding a hard drive to a Dell, those that I have taken apart do not
have an extra connector on the ribbon cable for a second drive but with
a $2 ribbon cable I can't see what would stop you from adding a drive
either to the current IDE connector or the second one on the board if it
    has it.
