I am purchasing a Sony TRV22 MiniDV camcorder and I have been looking
into accessories. I tried to do some 'review' searches and there is
not much out there commenting on accessories. Maybe you have some
experience with these items. (Yes, this similar setup is being asked
several times about different accessories - I felt the proper Subject
line was better then a shot gun approach.)

    Accessory: Sony ECM-MSD1 Shotgun Microphone

    Does this item really work?
    Is it noticable the change?
    Any drawbacks?
Any other non-Sony branded items work as well or better.

I found 1 review and the reviewer went back and forth on the quality
of this microphone. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    I have a TRV22.
Not sure if this will meet your needs but there is a very cheap lapel mic
available from Tandy/Radio Shack. The sound is good. The cord is about 5
metres long. The microphone is Optimus 33-3003.

Its a bad one. Stay away from this model. Worse than the built in mic.
