shutter problem?

I recently put a roll though my all manual slr, and most of the pictures

csme out only half there; the other half is black. I thought there
might be some problem with my camera because I had to pull the advance
lever twice (though the actual film only advanced once). I've been
testing it out now, and I've noticed that if I nudge the knob for the
shutter setting a little, it seems to lock it in the correct position so
I don't have to advance twice. I'm wondering if this will fix the
problem, so I won't get pictures that are only half there, or will I
have to take it in to be serviced. BTW, this does not involve flash.
    Thanks

I´ve seen this with an old Exacta SLR with two curtains moving left to
right. But I was using a flash with a faster speed than 1/60 secs... Do this
effects vary with changin shutter speed? Maybe one curtain 'hangs'

  3. Uh, put another roll through and see? If that doesn't do the trick, then
take it in and have it fixed -- or toss it. (Did you _want_ a half-frame
    camera? )

  4. It sounds like one of the shutter curtains is sticking.
