Anyone know if the Sigma 70-200mm f2.8 EX APO IF HSM
lens is compatible with a canon 1.4x or 2x extender on a
    canon eos 350D ?

I went to the shop today, and the guy was unable to make them fit.

I read somewhere on Fred miranda site that people have used extenders
with this lens...but havent specified the brand?

I would like to get a canon one, but if it is not compatible, anyone
have any suggestions for a 1.4x extender?

    Regards

Did you try the Sigma APO 2x converter? both the 2x and 1.4x are listed as
    suitable.

    Cheers.

It depends on the position of the elements of the lens (Rear) and the
    convertor (some extend forward).

Canon and Nikon have convertors which are matched to there lenses.

You may want to look at a Kenko convertor as an after market brand, who
seem to make very compatible universal types.

No I didn't. The shop only stocked canon extenders unfortunately.

I will try locate an APO 1.4x and make sure that fits.

    Thanks for your help
