I received my brand new Sigma EF-500 Super DG external flash unit from
Adorama today and it is totally awesome. I have never used a flash
with so much power and it is bult like tank, just like my new Sigma
SD10. I'm lovin' my new kit. I strongly recommend this DSLR/flash
combo for all levels of photographers from beginner to pro.

  3. You are now the owner of the best flash that has ever been made for a
DSLR or 35mm camera. This amazing flash comes in most standard mounts,
so not only Sigma users can benefit from the luxury of owning one of
    these work-horses.
Great to hear it, Sarah. Happy shooting.

    I agree COMPLETELY.

  5. Good one, George. You waited 8 minutes to respond to your own troll
    this time. You're getting better.

  7. You can't buy a better flash unit for *any* DSLR or 35mm camera.

He was on stage once. He became a little worried when they placed a rope
around his neck and the floor began to move.

It's obvious that neither you nor George have ever used Quantum flashes.
Far more power than the Sigma, and far better built, too. Far more
expensive, too, but what's that to a couple of figments of someone's
    imagination?

Actually credit where credit is due i have recommended this gun to people as
a cheaper alternative to the 550ex and 580ex.

The only danger here is that some newbie may read this total crap and
    believe it.

BTW, I love the "absolute" nature of all your comments. It takes a real
psycho to lie with such conviction. Keep up the bad work.

I have to wonder what is the purpose of GP's fierce brand loyalty. I've
owned or used equipment from nearly all the major camera brands and 3rd
party lensmakers. I've seen value in all their products and I give merit
where it is due, But I feel I owe nothing more to these companies other than
the price I paid for the equipment.

If he worked for Sigma, they'd see his failure from the past and would have
stopped this long ago. I see it as simple trolling and people keep falling
for it hook line and sinker.

He's just a troll asshole. No further explanation is required, or possible.

    George! Don't look up!

Hmmm, interesting facts emerge upon a little simple research:

    Sarah is Mrs "Preddy"
    Molly is their daughter.

    What a wonderfully amazing coincidence.

It's too bad that GP has done such a huge disservice to Sigma on the
newsgroups. If I were Sigma, I'd be seeking a gag order. I use the EF-500
Super on my 10D & D30, it's a great budget choice. Obviously not built as
well as the Canon ex flashes, but it does what it's supposed to do. It can
be triggered by the Canon ST-E2, or can trigger another wireless E-TTL
flash. I've not had any problems in the nearly 2 years I've had it.

  19. The EF-500 Super DG is a very good flash for the money.

It has a few flaws, like controls that are \difficult to set quickly
(carbon copy of Canon flashes), a weak battery door due to cheaper
plastics, and a guide number slightly below Canon's best unit. But it
    is very full featured.

It does not have auto flash mode (no sensor on flash, need the meter in
    camera).
