Simplest way to edit/tweak MOV files in Windows

    Hi

    I recently got a Kodak Zi6 digital camcorder and it's a
nice little gizmo, especially for club concerts where I
can just pull it out and make a pretty good recording
if the light is only half-decent. It saves its recordings to
mov format and I'm getting a little bleary eyed trying
to find something that just allows me to extract sections
of the video file to another file, preferably to mpeg-4, and
adjust the contrast and brightness. VLC can pull up a
mov easily, can adjust the brightness/contrast and all
that, and can transcode to mpeg-4. But there is no
graceful way to extract a section from a long video, and
the effects so far don't show up in the converted mpeg-4
file. I've lost track of all the programs I've tried, and now
I'm leaning towards just converting the mov's to avi's and
using VirtualDub, which I know will get the job done.

So I'm just curious if anyone has come across a free or
cheap Windows program for reliable, quick and simple
editing and converting of mov files.

    Thanks in advance.
