  2. Who would still use a SmartMedia card, and why?

  3. I still have a old digicam that uses them. It still works. Cards may
fail. I did consider this offer, and might have grabbed a couple at
under a tenner, but not this price...)

(In my experience stocking up with obsolete consumables is a guarantee
that the equipment will promptly fail!)

I yesterday, my ageing #1 camera - which uses an SD card - failed
(locked up in transferring-data-via-the-USB-link mode), and I was
obliged to use my more elderly #2 camera, which uses a SmartMedia card.
My even more elderly #3 camera is one which, when new cost (I believe)
around 500 pounds - and this also uses a SmartMedia card (although
limited to 16MB, I believe). Even though it's only 1.3 megapixels, its
pictures are still more than acceptable.
