solutions to iDVD quality?

I made a 5 minute video in iMovie. I exported it to iDVD and burned a
DVD. The quality suffered in the process: Slow motion portions are
nowhere near as clear as in the original DV footage. Lettering on
signs looks strange. I'm guessing this is a compression issue. Is
there a reasonably priced software tool that will allow me to adjust
the compression for the situation, or even for the given video. In my
case, I just want the one video out of 5GB so little compression is
necessary, but iDVD has a standard rate for videos under 60 minutes.
Alternatively, how much would it cost for me to take my complete
project to a production house and have them burn a DVD with less
compression (i.e. with no major operator intervention)

    Many thanks for the advice!
