I was attempting to capture some video from my Sony DCR-TRV830 digital
camcorder and email an MPEG file to my son. As best as I could
determine, I have successfully recorded from my dig-8 video tape to
the Sony memory stick, and can play back an MPEG-2 video clip of 15
seconds from the stick on the camcorder screen. When I attach the
camcorder to my WinXP PC (Athlon 1800) via a firewire connection,
click on My Computer and the Sony Camcorder, all that shows up are
some jpg files. Why don't the MPEG files display, and what do I do to
save an MPEG to my PC? I also noticed that not all the still pics on
my memory stick appear either. I had to click "take another picture"
to capture a jpg from the stick. The jpg files still show up under
the Sony Camcorder in My Computer, but at least I can then move them
to a hard drive directory. I've read the Sony camcorder user guide,
but I think I'm still missing something that is ob(li)v(i)ous. Thanks
    for the help. ..........MAK

Does the camcorder have a USB connection? If it does then that is how you
    should probably transfer it.

  3. Memory card pictures are only transferred via USB. You'll have to
hook up the USB cable in order to make that work.

The memory stick should appear as a drive when you do that, and you
    can copy files.
