    Hi All,

I'm new to this site but was hoping I could get some help.

For the first time I'm trying to download a video from my Sony Camcorder DCR-TRV530.

I'm using a new computer Dell XPS420 running Windows Vista Ultimate. In my tries to download and run Movie Maker or Roxio Ver.10 and either of these programs tells me that there's no video device connected.

I've tried buying several new cables and finallya new 1394 4 to 6 pin cable from Sony and still does not work.

How do you know when the computer recongnizes a camcorder like mine other than running a program and it telling me that there's no device connected...?

I've everything from restarting the computer calling Sony themselves, also called Dell and each on telling me that I don't need a separate video capture card and that my 1394 ports should work.

Any suggestion would be greatly apreciated.
