I have a Sony DSR-30 DVCAM deck that i have been using for some time,
however only for injesting via firewire to my mac for editing. I went
to hook a video monitor to it last night, and all i get is a rolling
distorted black screen. This is from both line outs using composite. I
havent used s-video out as i dont have svideo on my monitor. Also,
when i try the display or menu options, the screen changes but the
distortion is soo bad that i can not see what is displayed.

Has anyone else had this problem or know the issue and how to solve?

    Thanks
    Mark

Are you using a monitor that matches the video standard of
    the VCR? (NTSC vs. PAL)?

  3. Check your camera's settings for TV out.

    What camera?
    A DSR-30 is a DVCAM videocassette deck.
It has no "settings" for "TV out".

  5. Oops, my bad. Haven't had my Saturday morning bacon yet.

In that case, I'd recommend, er... jiggling the chromatic discombobulator
    and de-phasing the idiosyncratic field.
