If you are travelling to Hong Kong then this is the place to purchase Sony
    DV tapes.

Just purchased a pile of them for USD$2.10 each. In Australia, the cheapest
I have been able to purchase is USD$7.00 each (AUD $10.00)

Almost a good enough excuse to visit Hong Kong by itself!

This guy sells TDKs 5 for $36.00 - seems a good price - I have never
dealt with them tho so can't give a personal reccommendation either way

David - who in the days when audio cassettes were king thought TDK were
    among the very best

I've heard you can clog the heads on the camcorder by changing brands. I
normally used Sony tapes. Is the TDK tapes lubricant compatible with the
    Sony lubricant?

  7. I had a twice the bad experience mixing the TDK's with the large
format Sony DVCAM tapes. Once I thought might have been a coincidence,
but twice the heads clogged??? I haven't risked it another time.

    cheers

I have no idea about that John, but for me I am always happy to use TDK
tapes - I have a mixture of Sony (got 3 with the camera) and TDK which I
bought. Who told you about the mixing problem?

David - who is very fussy about tapes and such and NEVER buys cheapy
tapes for his Camera or VHS recorder

I think I first heard of the problem in this newsgroup.
