Just bought a Sony DCR-PC120E. Cannot get it to be seen by WinXP ,
I've loaded the Sony USB driver as instructed in the manual but the
device is nowhere to be seen. No mention of Sony USB storage anywhere
in devices, " add new hardware" or in My Computer.

Anyone had a similar problem and managed to fix it?

I think if you read the manual you may find that the USB interface is for
transferring still images only. Not video. Even USB 2.0 is not capable of a
    high-enough data rate.

For video, your computers needs a "Firewire" (IEEE-1394) interface (card or
motherboard socket). Firewire and USB are exteremely different; there is no
    "adaptor" plug or cable.

I used the USB port to transfer movies from my Sony TRV22 to my XP computer.
    Worked fine.
