    Anyway,

I remembered I also had a new little Rode SD omni here, so I'm putting the
AT2021 and the Rode Omni clips BOTH up in the Audio folder in my Online
    Archive.

The AT2021 is brighter and edgier than the rode and neither are as smooth as
my Schoeps CMC641. The AT 2021 does remind me a bit of a KM184. The Rode Omni
is a little smoother on top.

    Enjoy,

    Ty Ford

    Hello Ty.
I don't see a small diaphragm omni mic listed anywhere on Rode's web site.
    Is this something new?

  5. There were rumoured omni and hyper-c capsules for the NT5 a while ago, but
    yet too see them.

The problem with the NT5 is that the capsule thread on the mic body is made
of plastic. I don't think it would survive multiple capsule swaps. I know
people theorised that the NT5 could take an omni capsule, but I'd be
surprised if it was offered as an option due to the crappy thread.

  7. Maybe that's why it doesn't seem to have emerged...

Maybe that's why in its 'manual' they say: "There are no user-
serviceable parts inside this microphone and so there will never be a
reason for you to dismantle it." It's a fine mic in its own right anyway..

They were shown in Frankfurt at the Musikmesse last week.
