Sorta OT: Can anyone adentify this flower?

To make it slightly on-topic I'll list the equipment I used to take the
shot: Pentax MZ-S, SMC-F100/2.8 Macro, Kodak E100SW. It was taken at the
Audubon Canyon Ranch nature preserve in Marin County, California.

I'm archiving photos and I'd like to come up with an accurate title for
    this one. :)

I thought you were doing a Scarlet O'Hara imitation. 'Ah can certainly
    Adentify, Rhett..'

    Is the flower an orchid?

Well, I've had one vote for "some kind of iris" so far.
(Or should that be "Ah've had one vote fowah..."?)

I think Iris. Hard to tell.

You could try asking them. I think that fits the area of Marin county.

Yes, I'm too damned "artsy" and my photos don't really show enough
features for proper identification! It does look like some kind of iris,
    though.
I suspect it's an invasive (non-native) species that they're trying to
eradicate. Many web pages I've looked at indicate similar irises can be
troublesome in this way. Thanks for the link. I'll have a look.

I believe it is a Bearded Iris.

It looks an awful like the one on their home page, Iris munzii.
Disregard my earlier post about it being a bearded Iris, it looks too much
    like the natives for that...

Well, I have the (admittedly unfair) advantage of having seen the entire
plant I photographed. Photographs taken for artistic purposes have quite
different characteristics than those taken for the purposes of
identification so my shot isn't as useful as it might be in this regard.
I'm pretty convinced it is a Thompson's Iris at this point.
