    Hi

Wondered if I could pick the brain of any other Powershot G9 owners...

I just got one today, via Amazon. I noticed the box had been
previously opened which made me suspicious, perhaps too suspicious,
from the moment I switched it on. But when it's on, it's endlessly
clicking away. I have it on, straight out of the box in Auto mode and
as you pan the camera around, it clicks away with a little shuddering
sound after. If you leave it still, it doesn't make any noise.

I've never had a higher end camera before, so maybe it's doing
something clever which is good, but I've never heard anything like
this on my previous cameras. Spoke to someone at Canon support who
told me to try turning off Image Stabiliser, and it's still making the
noise. They said in that case, probably it's not as it should be, but
i just wanted to find out from anyone else who has it if this is
definitely out of the ordinary before I send it back.

    Cheers
    Rob

Canon guy said exactly what I was thinking. It shouldn't be making
    noises.

I agree, my Panasonic FZ20 ahs always done the same, switch to manual
focus or 1 shot AF and the noise stops.
