Is there any freeware (or other) which will get the exif date/time of a
picture and physically stamp it at the bottom of a photo. Ability to choose
font size/colour and location of stamp would be great, also batch processing
of loads of pics would be good.

Preferably a stand alone program, but anything that will do this would be
great. Can PSP8 do it (as i already have that). Can the batch script be
used, if so, how ? (NOVICE !!)

    Cheers

Try EyeBatch - it will batch-stamp just about anything you want,
including selected or all EXIF data, anywhere on a picture that you ask
it to :) It's great for doing almost any kind of automated
batch-processing. Shareware available from Atalasoft (www.atalasoft.com)

Thanks Matt, that is exactly what i needed !.

Further to that, does anyone know of software (as above), but which will
only put the stamp on the pics as i view them (in Windows fax & pic viewer),
i.e. not 'really' physically put a stamp on them (incase i want to ever
print them !), but just put a 'temporary stamp' on them as i view them. If
you know what i mean ?

    Cheers

    Irfanview (http://www.irfanview.com).

In the normal windowed view, the EXIF date and time are displayed in
the status bar at the bottom of the window.

If you really want a temporary stamp over the image, go to full screen
view (Enter key). You will see a text stamp overlay at the top left
corner. The default text is the filename, I think, but you can
configure this to include various exif and iptc fields. See Options ->
    Properties -> Viewing.

Irfanview can also be used to permanently add the stamp, see the Add
Text option. This can also be done in batch mode.

Another good option for batch stamping is Exifer
    (http://www.friedemann-schmidt.com/software/exifer/). Look for the
    watermark option.

    Both these programs are freeware.

  6. along this line, is there a piece of s/w which can extract from the jpg EXIF and
then rename the picture file with something like
"2004-08-06 10-22-39_####.JPG" iow, the date picture was taken, the time it
was taken and then the camera's cumulative photo number.

    thanks
