Step-up / step-down filter adapter?

Discussion in 'Australia Photography' started by Leigh Wedding, Oct 6, 2004.

  1. I have a question about filter adapters: If I wish to attach
    a 55mm filter to a lens with 49mm filter ring, do I need a
    49-55 step-up adapter, or a 55-49 step-down adapter? I was
looking at some second hand gear at keh.com, and not sure
    which is the right one.

    Thanks,
    Leigh.

  2. The first number is always goes onto the lens. So a 49-55 will screw onto a
lens with a 49mm filter thread and allow a 55mm filter to be attached.

  7. I ask because I note that their Nikon Coolscan film scanners are a bit cheaper
than Scannerplace, and I'm interested in buying one or the other of these.....

    Scanner place will price match.

Its was how Vanbar apply the tax to there item which make it cheaper.
(Not sure if this is still true.)
