  3. I'll second the other Mike. You won't go wrong with the 550. Others
will do but for a little extra money what you get is well worth it.

Do you have any sample pictures you've taken using the 550EX on your
website? (Which I really enjoy, by the way)

I'm looking at various flash options for my 300D as well.

Actually I don't have any flash pictures from the 300D on my site yet , but
I do have a few snapshots that I took at my daughters indoor soccer games
    on their team site,s gallery.
Not the greatest images but they were taken under really bad conditions, in
an inflatable dome with very poor lighting, very long distances ( most of
the time I was shooting with my 80-200 F2.8 zoomed all the way), and high
speed synch at 1/1000 sec to try and stop the action. The HS synch takes
away a lot of the flash's power compared to a normal 1/200 synch speed but
it still did the job, which says a lot for the power of the 550 flash.

How fitting that these are sports shots, because that's exactly what
I'd be using the flash for mostly.

I can see where the 550 flash makes a huge difference in bad lighting
situations such as the dome you were shooting in.

My favorite example was image #12 of 21 (111dome3) - looks like you
had to shoot from across the dome and lighting still came out decent
    on the girls.

Thanks for the samples, the 550 definately seems like the flash to
    have for the 300D.
