A few shots with my new D700:
I don't think any other lens goes as wide in a rectilinear projection as
the Sigma 12-24 full frame for an SLR and it's pretty good. The corners
do get soft at the very end, not obvious on this one, original file:
Barrel/pincushion is almost perfect though it's hard to frame straight
hand held, some of those are cropped or perspective corrected in
photoshop but it is possible to use this setup to make nice photos; not
necessarily always a total freak show.

Now to saw the hood off the 10.5mm DX fisheye for a greater than 180
degree view (almost) circular fisheye (cropped on the top & bottom).

I'm going to be bummed shooting telephoto though on un-cropped full
frame so the D200 will remain for that.

Well that was pretty easy. Here's a test shot at various apertures:

There is some CA in the crops which I adjusted out in adobe raw
converter. There's also some purple ghosting when stopped down past f/8
but still amazing flare resistance, considering. This shot doesn't
really test edge sharpness (focus at infinity with foreground in the edges).

Here's a DX crop to compare:

The method for removing the shade is from a youtube tutorial but I
didn't bother with tape, only the aluminum can trimmed with scissors and
slipped firmly into the slot inside the hood to protect things when
cutting off with a hacksaw. Cut off enough that it comes out in one
piece then I used wire cutters to shorten the large parts of the shade &
put that in the lens cap for a spacer.

Lovely lens, that 12-24Sigma! Got one last year and
have never regretted it: works great in both DX and FX.
Sure: corners can get soft, but I'll live with that to get
    the extra perspectives:

    Hehehe! A daring man indeed!
    I like it!
    Thanks a lot for sharing.
