I just placed an order for the TDK 440 multiformat burner. For anyone
who had this machine, what are your experiences with it? Are they
picky about media used? How is the TDK compared to the Sony and the
    Pioneer drives?

Really need some input on these one because I cannot afford to have
coasters later. DVD-R media are just too expensive to waste.

This is my first time purchase for a DVD burner and as such I really
do not have any software other than the Nero 6.

I have also encountered the Pioneer 106 burner but it is too late when
I came to know about it. I have already placed the order and already
on its way to me. I have the option of returning it but if it really
is not that bad, why the hassle?

Are there issues about this particular drive about media
incompatibility? That is what's important to me for now. I got the
external drive for a little than 300$ with shipping so I think I did
do too bad about the deal.

DVD-R media is priced about the same as VHS media these days. Go to
www.dvdrhelp.com to look at results of various media types. I have found the
Shintaro 4X stock (with PRINCO... mediacode) to be versatile, but my own
    sample base is small.

    HTH a little
