It is funny if you were old enough to watch the original Saturday Night Live
series. Doug's joke is based on the old Generalissimo Francisco Franco
(name?) routine made famous by that show's "Weekend Update" news team. It
    was a great bit.

And it's true, she is still dead.

But not for long... soon to be in a soft drink commercial with John Wayne and
brought back to life to star in a new film about her life. "Old photographers
never die, they just get optioned into the next moviecontract..." - ME ;-)

    SNIP

Not old enough or too old to remember? ;-) It was "Father Guido Sarducci"
(brings a smile to my face) :)

You're probably thinking of Wes Graham. I was referring to Paul Dirksen.

  11. No kidding. As a British, non-cable, non-satellite, non-digital TV owner, I
have not had much experience of Saturday Night Live. However, when I was on
holiday last month the hotel TV had a channel with some "funny" US talk show
with an SNL writer doing a standup routine. The fact that the audience
laughed only proves the power of free tickets.

And Johnny Cash! Geez, they're dropping like flies.

Ritter got my attention, though. He's only 54 (five more than me) and died
from an undiagnosed heart problem. That's it. I'm kicking off my shoes,
climbing a tree, and learning to play the flute.

Geez, when did this happen? I didn't even hear it on the news. I heard about
Charles Bronson's death, but hot Ritter's.

  14. If you're worried about heart/lung problems, forget the flute....It takes
more air to play one of those suckers than it does to climb Mt.
    Everest......Take up the violin.......

I thin it was Sept. 11 but I'm not sure. Heard it on the news, I believe...

Your Waterloo adress gave you away. I used both WATIV and WATFIV in
school under MUSIC on the mainfram (hideous). For IBM 370 assembler we
actually ran an emulator on original 8088 IBM-PC's... MUCH faster "real
life" cycle to write/edit, compile, link and execute mainframe code...
(of course if it would be a real life problem, it would run much quicker
on the mainframe, and we'd write it in Fortran anyway...well, there were
weird people who wrote COBOL but we largely ignored them unless they
    were chicks)...
