TMPGEnc - anybody else having problems with their license server?

Discussion in 'Amateur Video Production' started by Don Del Grande, Apr 2, 2005.

  1. Ever since I updated my copies of TMPGEnc 3.0 XPress and MPEG Editor,
they won't connect to the Pegasys license server, so I can't get the
programs to run, even though every other Internet-aware program I have
runs without problem. Any suggestions on what I should be looking for
that may be getting in the way? (I'm running the latest version of XP
Professional; I have tried turning the firewall off and disabling
Norton Anti-Virus, Webroot SpySweeper, and Zinio Delivery Manager
which are usually running, but it still won't connect.

What does TMPG support have to say?

BTW, this is EXACTLY why I did NOT upgrade from 2.5...
I'm in a production environment here, and can NOT tolerate this kind
    of crap...

Don't disable your firewall or virus protections. Any application
should be able to work with them in place.

As you have done to test it's probably alright but try not to make a
    habit of it.
If you are on a dialup link its much safer.

What error do you get ?

try using a dns lookup and ping or trace route to chack you can see the
    server.

  4. I get an alert box saying "Failure to connect with the license server.
    Verify your Internet connection."
Unfortunately, I don't know the IP address or port of the server.

    Again-

What does TMPG/Pegasys say about this?

It may be THEIR problem, not YOURS.

If you are on broadband, try using your dialup
backup connection to contact the server.

I would put the question to support on

    www.pegasys-inc.com.

I assumed this was there license server.

If you still get nowhere I can probably send you a utility to trace the
    IP address.

    best of luck.

  7. I did - the response I got was:

"It seems that your internet connection is problematic, since the
latest validation was recorded at 2005-02-24 14:18:18"

(This is before I updated to the latest versions)
I found a utility that checks connections. What happens is, the
program selects a port on my machine (apparently starting at 1042 and
incrementing with each subsequent attempt), and tries to connect to
one of two Pegasys license servers (202.222.16.36 or 202.222.16.37 -
both to Port 80). My utility says "Sync Sent", followed by the
connection dropping when the "failed to connect with the license
server - verify your Internet connection" box appears.

(I also have two connections that appear at startup that I can't
explain: one to ESPN (199.181.132.141), and a listener at port 24628
(although neither Norton nor SpySweeper report anything strange about
    this).)
