Much has been going on about merging several pictures to make a HRD
(High Dynamic Range) image lately. Taking several shots without a tripod
rules out any hope of success.

Tone mapping an image from a RAW file is almost as successful as
blending several images. This one from my 2008 Wynnum/Manly calendar
shows what can be achieved with tone mapping. The original is little
more than sky on top and black on bottom.

Gee dude, why didn't you just get it right in camera like the pros
    always do?

Gotta leave room for the #1 Jackass to chime in on call.

  4. so what has HRD got to do with "High Dynamic Range"
If you can't even get the acronym correct, why should we expect you to get
    the technique right.
