track shot without tracks?

    This looks like a good idea: wheels for a tripod that can be locked to roll
    only in a fixed arc, giving shots that look like the camera is on a track:

    Is there something similar that is cheaper? $1000 (sale price) seems a bit
    high.

    Buy the V-wheels and some pvc pipe

    I used to have a Western dolly for location shoots. Really just a low flatbed
    wagon with big, fat tires. Used it to haul gear and for decent dolly shots. If
    the floor was really funky, 1/2"x4'x8' plywood gave a smooth surface.
