I want photoshop not to open the images in their correct orientation eg
portrait landscapes. is there a way of turning this feature on and off.

    Huh?

The iage's orientation (pixel width and height) is stored in the file.
Photoshop opens the file however the file tells it to.

Yeah, he had me scratching my head, too. Maybe he really wants to apply
some resizing in batch and isn't aware of the correct automation command.

CS does something funky; I've noticed that many images turned in something
like Thumbsplus wind up in their original orientation when opened in PS.

This discussion has been going on for a while in the cerious
newsgroups. It's usually concerning RAW images (but not always), and
has to do with the way the way IPTC and EXIF data is read/amended by
    TP and other programs.
