Ulead DVD Movie Factory 2 now only burns around 38 minutes to a DVD! What happened?

    I'm trying to burn 60 minutes of Sony MiniDV Firewire O/P to a DVD-R
    using the direct to disc function. It only allows me to burn around 38
    minutes to the disc bringing up a warning box that I must OK to set to
    this maximum rec time. Originally as a newbie (a couple og burns ago!)
    I experimented with a DVD-RW and it allowed me to burn a maximum of
    about 1:06:00 (1h6m). That was the first and last time. Now using a -R
    or -RW/+RW disc, is only around 38 or 40 minutes. Have uninstalled,
    reinstalled, tried various settings and installed the update patch to
    version 2.12. Am burning using DVD PAL VBR 720x526, 8000kbps as I was
    when it worked on the before mentioned first disk.

    Any help appreciated!

    Further to the above, If I look at the surface of a burnt disc, I can
    see the portion of the disc that hasn't been used, which would be
    approx. 25 minutes or so taking the total duration up to a little over
    one hour. I removed Nero vision express 2 (which is useless) incase of
    a conflict and also defragged the HD incase there wasn't enough
    contiguous space for the temporary cache file. Very frustrating as I
    just want to archive to DVD 1 hour of high quality ex MiniDV.

    Thanks Jerry, but have already installed the update to v2.12 as
    stated. incidentally I installed a trial version on Sonic MyDVD 5
    Deluxe and it allows me to burn approx. 110 minutes per DVD-R, so
    something has gone wrong with MovieFactory 2. Pity 'cause my critical
    eyes seem to think the picture quality on a MF rendered DVD is maybe a
    few percent better than with MyDVD.
