I'm trying to burn 60 minutes of Sony MiniDV Firewire O/P to a DVD-R
using the direct to disc function. It only allows me to burn around 38
minutes to the disc bringing up a warning box that I must OK to set to
this maximum rec time. Originally as a newbie (a couple og burns ago!)
I experimented with a DVD-RW and it allowed me to burn a maximum of
about 1:06:00 (1h6m). That was the first and last time. Now using a -R
or -RW/+RW disc, is only around 38 or 40 minutes. Have uninstalled,
reinstalled, tried various settings and installed the update patch to
version 2.12. Am burning using DVD PAL VBR 720x526, 8000kbps as I was
when it worked on the before mentioned first disk.

    Any help appreciated!

Further to the above, If I look at the surface of a burnt disc, I can
see the portion of the disc that hasn't been used, which would be
approx. 25 minutes or so taking the total duration up to a little over
one hour. I removed Nero vision express 2 (which is useless) incase of
a conflict and also defragged the HD incase there wasn't enough
contiguous space for the temporary cache file. Very frustrating as I
just want to archive to DVD 1 hour of high quality ex MiniDV.

Thanks Jerry, but have already installed the update to v2.12 as
stated. incidentally I installed a trial version on Sonic MyDVD 5
Deluxe and it allows me to burn approx. 110 minutes per DVD-R, so
something has gone wrong with MovieFactory 2. Pity 'cause my critical
eyes seem to think the picture quality on a MF rendered DVD is maybe a
few percent better than with MyDVD.
