I am burning a file created using Windows Movie Maker - that i saved
back to dv format. I am using Ulead DVD Movie Factory 2 to make the
DVD. I put the finished disk in my dvd player and it plays except
there is no sound. I put the same disk in my computer and it plays
with the sound! Whats the deal here? Is it anything to do with the way
the file is saved with Windows Movie Maker2?

    More information, please.

Please right-click on your source clip in Ulead DVD MovieFactory 2.

Then click MEDIA CLIP PROPERTIES to obtain a properties read-out.

What are the precise video/audio properties of your source clip?

For example, I sometimes work with DV .avi files that have the
    following precise video/audio properties:

    NTSC drop frame (29.97 fps)
    Microsoft AVI files
    24 Bits, 720 x 480, 29.97 fps
    Field Order A
DV Video Encoder -- type 1
DV Audio -- NTSC, 48.000 kHz, 16 Bit, Stereo

How do the properties of your source video compare?

If you used MP2 audio compression instead of PCM, your dvd player may not be
able to play the audio. It may be just a setting that needs to be changed in
the dvd player's setup menu, check the player's manual.

    This is the file properties:
File Format; Microsoft AVI Files - OpenDML

    Data Rate: 3512.11 kbps
Video Compression: DV VIdeo Encoder - Type 1
    Attributes: 24 bit - 720 x 480
Audio Compression; DV Audio - NTSC
Audio Attributes: 48.000 kHz, 16 bit, Stereo

    Your file properties look good.

Now click the SECOND button in the lower left corner of the DVD
MovieFactory 2 interface (the button with the large CHECK on it).

After the PROJECT SETTINGS pop-up menu appears, click the CHANGE MPEG
    SETTINGS button.

After the small pop-up menu appears, click CUSTOMIZE.

    Then choose the following settings:

    NTSC drop frame (29.97 fps)
    MPEG files
    24 Bits, 720 x 480, 29.97 fps
    Field Order A
    (DVD-NTSC), 4:3
Video data rate: Variable (Max. 8264 kbps)
    LPCM Audio, 48 KHz, Stereo

I suspect the reason your DVD player isn't playing the other disc
could possibly be due to the fact you may have chosen MPEG AUDIO
instead of LPCM AUDIO in your project settings in Ulead DVD
    MovieFactory 2.

The MPEG AUDIO playback is optional for NTSC stand alone DVD players.

The LPCM AUDIO playback is mandatory.

I finally got it working by changing the audio settings on my DVD
player. There was a setting for "other" audio, and I changed this to
PCM, and now I can hear the audio on the DVD. I thought PCM was a
    standard DVD format.
