    Hello,

I want to start backup my miniDV tapes(70+) and looked into using the
Recode 2.2. My plan is to compress and store them on DVDs as files so
in a few years I will be able to compile the raw material into various
    personal movies.

    My questions are:
    - can Nero read DV type 1 avi?
    - how standard is the exported H.264/AVC file format ? What are the
chances I will be able to read it 5 years from now?

    Thanks,
    SebiF

Oh Good, another backup debate :) I would say the best thing to do is to
backup back to tape. I also have backup hard drives removed and sitting on a
shelf that I would say would last a long time just sitting there. DVDs and
any other media would still be there 5 years from now so I wouldn't even
give that short time any concern.
