Video for Windows, DirectShow, FourCC codes, bitrate, framerate, aspect
ratio, codecs, filters, compression ratio, AVI, MOV, MPEG1 MPEG2 etc etc
etc. Is there a utility out there that can read ANY video/movie file and
obtain all the properties. MovieID comes close but it complains if the file
is bigger than 2GB and it does not appear to handle AVI's using DirectShow
    filters.

I wrote my own, but there are several out there.
Why would you need DirectShow to get information from an AVI file?
It's contained right in its header.

As far as I know, GSpot only handles AVI files.
